Healthcare Sytem in Canada
Canada enjoys a unique healthcare system that is free for all Canadian citizens and permanent residents. In about three months from your arrival to Canada as a permanent resident, you will be covered by the healthcare in the province of your residence.
However, there are restrictions on the coverage of some aspect of healthcare. Drugs, dentistry, optometry and physiotherapy are some of the areas that are not fully covered by the provincial healthcare system. Healthcare is governed by the provincial governments individually.
