Self-Employed Persons (Federal)
The Self-employed Program is for the applicants who want to become self-employed in Canada and show an ability to do so. Self-employed applicants must meet one of the following two conditions:
- have relevant experience in a field that will make a significant contribution to the cultural or athletic life of Canada (such as artists and athletes), or
- have experience in farm management, and have the ability and desire to purchase and manage a farm in Canada.
The selection criteria for the self-employed applicants are as follows:

Minimum pass mark required for admission in the self-employed category is 35 out of 100 points.
