On June 19 2014, Bill C-31 became law and applications which were still in the backlog of the federal Immigrant Investor Program and Entrepreneur Program were terminated.
Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Pilot Program
Applicants must have a personal net worth of CDN $10 million or more. The net worth must have been acquired through legal, private sector business or investment activities. Applicants must be willing and able to make at-risk investment (non-guaranteed) of CDN $2 million in the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital (IIVC) Fund.
Applicants must:
- prove language proficiency in English or French in all four language abilities (speaking, reading, listening and writing) CLB 5
They must also have:
- a completed Canadian post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate of at least one year.
or
- a foreign equivalent, as validated by an original Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report.
